Outreach College
Credit Programs

One of the missions of the University of Hawai'i at Manoa is to extend its diverse resources beyond the traditional campus, making higher education more accessible to a broader community in Hawai'i and throughout the world. Outreach College helps to fulfill that mission year-round, offering conveniently scheduled courses for students who are unable to participate in the University's regular day school program. The credits are regular UH Manoa credits, count towards UH Manoa full-time enrollment for a semester, and appear on your UH Manoa transcripts without your having to transfer them.

Evening classes usually meet either two nights a week from 6:00pm to 8:00pm or 8:10pm to 10:10pm; one night a week from 6:00pm to 10:10pm; or Saturday mornings from 8:00am to 12:10pm. General academic advising is available Monday through Friday during office hours.

Outreach College credit course students are diverse — some are seeking degrees, some wish to upgrade professional or occupational skills, and others simply wish to satisfy an intellectual curiosity about a subject. Participants include traditional undergraduate and graduate students, teachers, military personnel, other working adults, retirees, state/county government employees, and parents resuming studies after raising families.

Courses are offered on the Manoa campus through our Evening/Weekend Program; at off-campus locations such as public schools, neighbor island media centers, and other Pacific Basin sites; through the internet; and via the Hawai'i Interactive Television System (ITV). During the summer, Outreach College administers two summer sessions for the University of Hawai'i at Manoa campus, offering 1,200 credit courses for residents and visiting students.
