Summer Intensive Interpreter Training Program

Train in simultaneous and consecutive interpretation in Mandarin/English, Japanese/English, and Korean/English languages. The University of Hawai`i Center for Interpretation and Translation Studies (CITS) presents this six-week intensive training program for speakers of these languages.


Participants gain a wide range of practical training: public speaking; memorization; note-taking using abbreviations, symbols, etc.; concentration; information processing; shadowing; and interpretation into both languages at varying lengths and speeds.


Upon completion of the course requirements, students receive a diploma of completion and the opportunity to take a separate simultaneous and consecutive certification exam for a nominal fee.
