Sustain your brain! This course will help you reach your creative potential through observation, hands-on experiences and numerous writing exercises. We'll define creative writing, discuss ways to generate ideas and stretch your writing muscles, and identify the components of good poems and fiction. You'll write haiku and short stories, share your work during class and critique fellow students' efforts. It all adds up to an exciting journey of self-discovery and self-expression.

Cheryl Chee Tsutsumi is a freelance writer and editor. She writes a weekly travel column for the Honolulu Star-Bulletin that has won multiple Society of American Travel Writers awards, and is editor of the Kaiser Permanente Hawai‘i Region's magazine, Partners in Health. She is the author of 11 books about Hawai‘i, and has contributed to numerous other publications, including Maui No Ka Oi magazine, Modern Luxury, Midweek, Hawai‘i Business, Where, Hawaii Westways (distributed to AAA members in Hawai‘i), Fodor's, and the Contra-Costa Times.
