Flash for Sound and Video
Event ID: L10290
Info: Jul 12 • Sun • 9:00am-4:00pm • 1 mtg • UHM Sakamaki C104, Manoa MultiMedia Lab • $135
With: Rich Shupe
Begin the class by adding sound to the timeline and buttons, looking at different types of streaming and event sounds, as well as in-Flash effects such as pans and fades‚ all without any programming. Then move on to ActionScript control of sound, including loading external MP3 files, setting volume and panning values, and mixing multiple sounds. Finally, learn how to synchronize events with sound and render a visualization of independent left and right channel amplitudes during live playback.
End the day with a focus on Flash's biggest growth market: video. Flash puts at your fingertips a powerful array of features to manipulate and deploy video content. Learn how to encode video using the latest Flash video codec, including support for cue points and integrated alpha channels; embed short special-effect videos into the Flash timeline, play external video files without any programming, your own video playback and implement Flash CS3's new full-screen video feature.
Level: Beginner to Intermediate. Days 1 and 2 of the workshop, Introduction to Flash CS4 and Introduction to ActionScript 3.0, are required.
