An introduction to the basic structure of the Japanese language, including proper pronunciation, grammar, basic vocabulary, and simple everyday conversation.
Course follows lessons 1 through 6 of Japanese for Busy People, Volume I. In addition to the lessons, classes include language study through games, activities, demonstrations of Japanese culture, and practice with experienced Japanese language speakers.
Reina Hirose Horton was born in Honolulu and raised in Tokyo, Japan. She received her BA from Waseda University, where she studied Political science. She is attending Hawaii Pacific University’s MA TESOL program. She worked as a substitute teacher at UH Outreach College’s Japanese class, and tutors Japanese to high school and university students. Her current interests are motivation in language acquisition and the connection between language and identity.
