ACC 201: Introduction to Financial Accounting
This course is the first in a series of two Introduction to Accounting courses (ACC201 and ACC202) covering financial accounting (ACC201). By the end of this course, students will be able to read the four most common financial statements: the comprehensive income statement, balance sheet, statement of shareholders’ equity, and statement of cash flows. Students will learn how to compile and analyze these financial statements.
Group cases will be assigned. Students will be familiarized with the Annual Report and four most common financial statements.
About the Instructor
Professor David Yang received his PhD degree in Accounting from Columbia University. Having taught over 3,500 students at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa, Professor Yang has been honored with numerous teaching awards including the 2004 University of Hawaiʻi Regents’ Medal for Excellence in Teaching. Professor Yang previously taught at Peking University and National Taiwan University, and currently a Professor in the School of Accountancy at Shidler College of Business, UH Mānoa.
