Affordability + Accessibility = Zero Textbook-Cost Courses

University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa students spend up to $1,500 per year on college textbooks. Due to this financial burden, they may take fewer courses, choose not to register for a particular course, or simply forgo purchasing required textbooks. All of these have a negative impact on their academic success.

The Open Educational Resources (OER) Initiative at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa aims to save students money and promote academic success by offering over 100 Zero Textbook-Cost courses. Some courses feature texts created by UH Mānoa faculty, some assign online material through the UH Mānoa Library, and others draw from a number of open online sources. The bottom line is that students will not have to purchase textbooks for those classes highlighted as "Textbook Cost: $0."

See http://oer.hawaii.edu for more information about the OER Initiative at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa.
